Looking forward to seeing Chrome OS. Google really has some great applications. And, luckily they realize the power of open source software like Linux. Finally there's some competition to Microsoft.

Exactly! good cartoon there. Gavin, you must of heard of bing.com, microsoft's search engine,(again added on to the graphics section),it gives the same results as google but more of graphics.
Microsoft's mantra: Make a copy of the "hit" and it sells better! don't know if this one would work though!

Yups .. doing well here in Pune so far. I mentioned two types of challenges .. 1. Getting the build better than Ubuntu which is supposed to be best generic use Linux available in the world. 2. Using the brand google to try and eat into Windows market.

Irrespective of people know Ubuntu or not, I still fail to understand how Chrome OS will shape up and make itself better than Ubuntu. Keep in mind that Ubuntu itself is a Open source OS and developed by thousands of people across the globe.

When it comes, I would surely play around with that in my virtual machine but I dont see myself using Chrome OS any more than a toy .. never for serious use for sure !!

Hi Swapnil, hope you're doing fine and settling down well back home. Ubuntu is popular only among Linux enthusiasts and the tech-savvy crowd, whereas Google will be known by almost everybody who has used the www. So, Google's brand popularity is far greater than that of Ubuntu. As per my post, Microsoft accounts for about 89% of the OS market share whereas Linux only about 2.11%, which means Ubuntu holds probably less than 2% of the market. So, I believe that Google will not even be slightly worried about Ubuntu as it will use its brand power to go after the big fish - Microsoft Windows.
