A couple of months ago, I had a requirement to gather diagnostic data from Palo Alto Networks (PAN) firewalls every few seconds for the PAN support technicians to assist us with identifying the root cause of an incident which occurred intermittently. This data was to be gathered over a single SSH connection. One way to obtain this data was to use Tera Term and its macro scripting language. Refer pandiag.ttl for the script used to collect the required data. Every hour’s data was logged to a separate file.
